The Diplomat
The new Canadian ambassador to Spain, Jeffrey Marder, has presented the Copies of his Letters of Credence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Marder, who replaces Wendy Drukier in the post, went to the Ministry’s headquarters at the Palacio de Santa Cruz on September 30, where he was received by the ambassador’s introducer, Adrián Martín Couce.
Until his appointment to take charge of the Embassy in Madrid, the new ambassador was executive director of Human Rights and Indigenous Affairs in the Political Division of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Jeffrey Marder has a long career as a diplomat, which includes having been Canada’s ambassador to Portugal between 2014 and 2018.
Throughout his career, which began in 1997, Marder has also been director of the Division of Relations with Central America and the Caribbean. He has also served at the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations in New York and at the Embassies in Chile and Mexico.
