Next Wednesday, October 16 from 18 hours, the Miguel de Cervantes Room of Casa América will host the Letras de Costa Rica (Costa Rica Letters) day, an annual event held in Madrid since 2022, organized by the Embassy of Costa Rica in collaboration with a committee of writers and experts, which aims to disseminate the literature of Costa Rican authors in Spain. Free admission until capacity is full.
This event aims to offer a window for Costa Rican writers to exhibit, promote and share their works, as well as foster business relations and cooperation networks based on the meeting between writers, Publishers, promoters and other actors in the literary industry in Spain.
The day will begin with the words of welcome of León de la Torre Krais, general director of Casa de América, and Adriana Bolaños Argueta, ambassador of Costa Rica in Spain, to continue with a dialogue between Carlos Francisco Echeverría, about his work Arte costarricense del siglo XX, and Eugenia Arguedas, member of ‘Lunes de leer’.
At 6.40 pm a round table will take place entitled The novel as space of exploration: mystery, death and mysticism, which will feature Andrea Aguilar-Calderón, on his work A murderer in the mirror, and Jose Chacón, on his work The calligrapher. Moderated by Carlos Francisco Echeverría, writer and researcher.
To conclude, at 19.10 hours will be held another round table entitled Searches in the proper, with the participation of Silvia Campos, about the work Why me, For what my body?, and Catalina Murillo, about her work A Woman Insignificant. Eugenia Arguedas, member of ‘Lunes de leer’ will moderate.
