The National Police have reported the arrest in France of the brother of the perpetrator of the attack suffered by Alejo Vidal-Quadras in Madrid on November 9.
According to the information released yesterday by the National Police on the social network X, the arrested person is an individual of Tunisian nationality accused of direct participation in the planning and logistics of the attack against the former president of the Catalan PP and founder of Vox, as well as former vice president of the European Parliament.
This is the seventh arrest made within the framework of this investigation by the General Information Commission of the National Police. The arrest has been made thanks to a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by Spain.
On June 19, the police confirmed that the perpetrator of the attack, Mehrez Ayari, 37, had been arrested in the Netherlands. He was wanted for being the person who shot Vidal-Quadras in the street in the center of Madrid.
The arrest of Ayari in Haarlem in the street, when he was going to commit another similar attack, according to sources close to the investigation, confirmed the involvement of the Mocro Maffia in the attack and supported the clue that the victim himself gave to the police when he assured that the Iranian regime was behind the shooting because of its relations with the opposition in that country. Something that Vidal-Quadras has always maintained.
