The Diplomat
The governments of Spain and Argentina have resumed dialogue channels after the crisis that broke out in May 2024, when the Argentine president, Javier Milei, attacked Begoña Gómez, the wife of the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the latter reacted by withdrawing the Spanish ambassador in Buenos Aires.
According to the newspaper El País, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and the Argentine Foreign Minister, Diana Mondino, held a telephone conversation last week, which took place in a “cordial tone” and in which, among other issues, they analyzed the conflict in the Middle East.
The conversation between the two ministers could continue at the end of September, when they meet in New York, at the traditional breakfast of Ibero-American foreign ministers held within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly.
