The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has restructured the Foreign Policy Council and the Presidency Cabinet to adapt them to the current organization of the Presidency of the Government and to organize the International Conference on Financing for Development of the UN that will take place in Spain in 2025, according to the Official State Gazette (BOE)
The Royal Decree, signed by King Felipe VI at the proposal of Sánchez, states that the head of the Executive has the function of directing the action of the Government and coordinating the functions of its members, which is why the Foreign Policy Council has been adapted to ” the current structure” of the Presidency of the Government and incorporates more functions in international relations into the Presidency Cabinet.
“In order to promote the mission of the Foreign Policy Council, a collegiate body of support and advice to the President of the Government in his functions of direction and coordination of the Government’s action in matters of foreign policy, through this royal decree it is modified Royal Decree 1412/2000, of July 21, creating the Foreign Policy Council, for its adaptation to the current structure of the Presidency of the Government,” the decree reads.
A modification of the structure of the Presidential Cabinet will also be carried out, incorporating an Office for the preparation and organization of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development of the UN, which will be held between June 30 and on July 3, 2025 in Seville.
This publication in the BOE, which is now in force, takes place one day after Sánchez announced that Seville will become the next venue for the UN International Conference on Financing for Development. In this way, in July 2025 the Andalusian capital will become the fourth city to host this event.
“Seville is going to be the capital not only of Andalusia, but also of the world in the year 2025,” celebrated the Head of the Executive during his speech in the Plenary Session of Congress to report on the decisions adopted in the European Councils on the 17th. and June 27 and to expose the fundamental lines of its democratic regeneration plan.
