Más Madrid claims that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is acting against the award to the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, of the International Medal of the Community of Madrid, at the initiative of the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. To achieve this objective, it has registered initiatives in the Congress, Senate and Assembly of Madrid.
The spokesperson for Más Madrid in the Madrid Assembly, Manuela Bergerot, argues that there are “ample indications” that this distinction could be removed since it has been granted without coordinating with the Ministry, which is the one that must set “the entire Foreign Policy” of Spain. .
Bergerot calls the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, “disloyal” to both the central executive and the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, “who was not even invited.” “In addition, it turned against him because Milei began to talk, precisely, about those who use institutions to give perks to boyfriends and brothers (…) It has turned against him since right now his boyfriend is testifying in the judged,” says Manuela Bergerot.
The initiative sent to the Madrid Assembly, to which Europa Press has had access, is a Non-Law Proposition (PNL) with four points. First, demand the revocation of the concession and ask Milei to return it. Afterwards, it requests a protocol for the delivery of the International Community Medal and demands that the recognition be accompanied by a report that “verifies respect for human rights and the principles of the social and democratic State of Law.” Finally, they demand that the Ministry carry out “all necessary administrative or judicial acts” for the concession to be revoked
