The Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas (MNAD), a state museum under the Ministry of Culture, inaugurated last Thursday the exhibition Gianni Versace in front of the mirror, under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy and with the support of Be Casa by Greystar and Negrini. The exhibition can be visited free of charge until 6 October 2024.
The exhibition, curated by the curator Jose Luis Díez-Garde, is based on a private fashion collection donated to the museum in 2001. It is composed of over a hundred and eighty pieces, among which stand out over a hundred and twenty haute couture garments dating from the nineteen-eighties and nineteen-nineties of the last century belonging to such renowned firms as Valentino Couture, Chanel, Renato Balestra, Emmanuel Ungaro, Givenchy Couture, Yves Saint Laurent or the very Atelier Versace.
This is the first time that these pieces have been shown in an exhibition that seeks not only to delve into the sources of fashion design, but also to reflect on the heterogeneity of the collections of the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas.
