Tonight at 9.30 p.m., in the Nave de Terneras of the Centro Cultural Casa del Reloj in Madrid (P.º de la Chopera, 10), the Embassy of the Czech Republic invites you to the Kafka Night, with an original art of evolution presentation by Álex Dowis and the image of the author that will appear on the façade of the Instituto Cervantes building.
Kafka, a Prague writer and common representative of the three coexisting cultures -Czech, Jewish and German- in the middle of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, lived through the creation of the new Czechoslovak state in 1918. He is considered by many to be one of the founders of modern literature. Works such as The Metamorphosis have gone down in history as an inspiration for future existentialist writers.
Also, as part of Kafka Year, tomorrow Thursday at 5.30 p.m., a debate will be held in the La Caixa Foundation pavilion at the Madrid Book Fair on the fundamental role played by Kafka, particularly in the authors of magical realism in Latin America. In collaboration with the Colombian Embassy, the influence of Kafka on García Márquez will be discussed. The Austrian author Franzobel will discuss the subject together with the Colombian anthropologist Weildler Guerra. All the events of the Kafka Year can be consulted at this link.
