From 21 June to 31 July, the Centro Cultural Coreano in Spain transforms into a Fashion Cultural Centre with the premiere of the third edition of the K-Fashion exhibition, an initiative that began in 2022 in order to bring Korean fashion and culture to Spain and support Korean designers who are making their mark on a global level.
OJOS! No es escaparate, es exposición (EYES! It’s not a showcase, it’s an exhibition), the title of the exhibition, lands in Spain thanks to Yerim Kim, founder of the brand OJOS (www.ojos.kr) and fashion designer adored by Idols (K-Pop singers), and who causes a furore with her futuristic and sporty designs. The Centre’s Han-ul Gallery becomes a retro-futuristic space with a selection of more than 80 looks designed by Yerim Kim, some of which have been worn by K-Pop stars from bands such as NewJeans and LE SSERAFIM.
This exhibition of so-called K-Fashion has a focus on functional garments that seek comfort for an active lifestyle, as well as modular designs as a common thread, in juxtaposition to a contemporary style that invites reflection on fashion as an art form. Technology is also part of her collections. Yerim Kim is a pioneer in digital fashion for the general public. From its website, users, without the need to use avatars, can purchase virtual designs and fashion accessories, a more sustainable alternative that allows them to post them on social networks without the need to buy physical clothes.
At the opening, which will take place on 21 June at 6.30 p.m., designer Yerim Kim will give a talk to the audience about the impact of Korean fashion and its global success. She will also give some recommendations to the audience on how to incorporate Korean style into their wardrobes.
