The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, praised yesterday in Madrid the figure of the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, who he said is not only “a friend”, but also “a great human being” because when his figure was questioned at the level internationally, “he was the only one” who showed his support.
Hours after beginning a visit to Spain, Milei participated in the presentation of his book ‘The Way of the Libertarian’, at the headquarters of ‘La Razón’, and there he said: “You have to be a grateful person. When no one loved me, the only one who hugged me was Santiago Abascal. Therefore, it was morally imperative to participate in the event, since he is also a great friend, a great human being,” he indicated, referring to his presence at the Europa VIVA24 Festival, organized by Vox this weekend.
In the same presentation of his book, Milei insisted on his commitment to closing the Central Bank of Argentina, a measure that he already promised during the electoral campaign, which took him to the Casa Rosada.
The Argentine president defended his economic positions as the solution to the devastating financial situation of the Ibero-American country, where year-on-year inflation is above 280 percent. “When we arrived, inflation was going at a rate of one percent daily, and today there is a phenomenal collapse in inflation. It shows the enormous task we are doing,” he said, reiterating that the appropriate way to recover the economy “is path of libertarianism”.
Among the solutions to the situation in Argentina, Milei highlighted above others that of eliminating capital control so that citizens can freely choose which currency to buy. “It was savage, and it’s recklessly moral. It’s an aberration,” he said.
Milei, who does not have any meeting with Spanish authorities on his agenda, will hold a meeting today with Spanish businessmen and an interview with Abascal, whom he will accompany on Sunday at the VIVA24 Europe Festival, to which several European leaders of far right political parties have announced their attendance.
