Organised by the UK embassy, the United for Ukraine concert was held last Friday at the Centro Cultural Eduardo Úrculo in Madrid.
In the presence of many members of the Ukrainian community in Madrid and the ambassadors of Finland, Lithuania, Ireland and Slovakia, together with representatives from Romania and Austria, various choirs delighted those present, who were welcomed by the Ukrainian ambassador, Serhii Pohoreltsev, who expressed his gratitude for the celebration of “this act of support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people who are fighting against the Russian aggressor”, as well as to the UK Embassy “for its role in the organisation of this event”.
“We still need this support,” the Ukrainian ambassador noted, “because every day we have Russian shelling and attacks on the front line, with shelling on civilians all over the territory of Ukraine. That is why your contribution is very welcome. I am sure that, with everyone’s efforts, we will achieve peace. We Ukrainians will have a chance to regain all our territory temporarily occupied by the enemy and have a just and lasting peace, but always with the support of our friends and partners, of people like you”.
Taking part in the concert were the choirs Talia Mini, Peredzvin, the Metropolitan Orchestra, and the Diplomats’ Choir, which included members of the Austrian, Ukrainian, UK, French and US embassies.
