Until 5 May, the Teatro Pavón in Madrid (Calle Embajadores, 9) presents Florian Zeller ‘s play La madre (The Mother), directed by Juan Carlos Fisher and starring Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Juan Carlos Vellido, Alex Villazán and Júlia Roch.

Can a mother love too much, is there a limit to that love, and what happens when a child grows up and leaves? Anne has built her life around her son Nicolás and now that he is gone she is suffering from the empty nest syndrome and discovering the true bond with her husband. Has Anne lived for herself or for others? Has it all been a meaningless fiction? The choices she has made haunt her. There is so much she wants to say…

Actress Aitana Sánchez-Gijón returns to the stage with one of the most acclaimed characters of recent times in a play that questions the limits of loneliness, emptiness and sanity. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
