The Teatro Fernando de Rojas (C. del Marqués de Casa Riera, 2) and the Centro Cultural de Corea in Spain present the pianist Seong-Jin Cho in concert at the theatre on Sunday 17 March at 12 noon.
When he won the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2015 at the age of 21, the Korean Seong-Jin Cho was already a popular figure in his country. Since then, his star has continued to expand and grow. Chopin has always been a workhorse of his still short but already spectacular career, and around his music, that of Mozart and Debussy, he has made a respected name for himself halfway around the world. But his repertoire is widening: thus, his latest work, still recent, the Handel Project, connects the great master of the Baroque with Brahms, and this time he will approach the Círculo with three essential names in keyboard music: a classic (Haydn), the most romantic of the romantics (Liszt) and the master of colour (Ravel).
The concert programme includes Haydn’s Piano Sonata No. 34 in E minor, Hob XVI:34, Haydn’s Menuet sur le nom and Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin – Suite for piano , and Liszt’s Années de pèlerinage, Deuxième année: Italie, S 161. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
