The Secretary of Culture of Argentina, Leonardo Cifelli, has committed to the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) to reinforce its work in cultural cooperation and to promote cultural and creative industries in Ibero-America.
Leonardo Cifelli held a meeting this past Thursday in Madrid with the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, with whom he addressed, among other issues, Argentina’s participation in the cultural cooperation programs of the SEGIB.
For 25 years, the Ibero-American Secretariat has had a system of thirteen cultural cooperation programs that “has contributed to the institutional and legislative development of culture, has energized institutions and has generated an increase in the participation of private entities for the development of projects in all countries,” according to SEGIB. Argentina participates in twelve of the thirteen Ibero-American cultural cooperation programs of the SEGIB, ten of which are within the orbit of the Ministry of Culture.
During the meeting, Cifelli also expressed his interest in promoting new instruments that promote cultural and creative industries, such as the Ibero-American Fund of Reciprocal Guarantees for cultural and creative industries, a pilot initiative that Argentina would begin this year. This tool, created during the Ibero-American Summit in Andorra, is designed to facilitate access to the banking system for companies, MSMEs, SMEs and entrepreneurs linked to the cultural and creative industries.
Another of the topics discussed during the meeting was the launch of a new Ibero-American cooperation program for the promotion and development of video games. The project is proposed as a technical and financial cooperation between the countries of the region to strengthen an expanding industry, promote public policies for the promotion and regulation of the sector, as well as to improve its competitiveness, international positioning and potential as an educational and inclusion tool. social.
The Secretary of Culture also explained to Allamand the Creative Communities Project, whose objective will be to stimulate community economies related to cultural and creative industries. This Argentine initiative seeks, as its main initial partners, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia and Paraguay.
For the Ibero-American Secretary General, “the relevant role of the Republic of Argentina in the Ibero-American community is immensely valued by the SEGIB.” “For this reason, we are sure that this role, on the part of Argentina, will be maintained and projected strongly in the future,” he concluded.
