The story of Princess Kaguya begins when an elderly peasant couple find a tiny girl inside a bamboo plant and decide to adopt her as their daughter. Quickly transformed into a beautiful woman, she is sought after by many men, including the emperor. However, her initial joy is reduced to sadness, as she claims that people from the moon, where she is from, will come for her.
