The Diplomat
Yesterday, the Council of Ministers appointed Miguel Alonso Berrio to the position of Spanish ambassador to Bulgaria, as The Diplomat had reported.
Doctor in Contemporary History and graduate in Law from the Complutense University, Berrio entered the Diplomatic Career in 1994.
His first diplomatic position was, precisely, the Embassy in Sofia in 1995. Since then, he has been assigned as second head to the Embassies of Bratislava, Prague and Vienna, in addition to permanent representation before International Organizations in Vienna. This is, therefore, his first leadership in an Embassy.
In the central services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he has served in the General Directorate of Europe as deputy director general of European Union Countries on two occasions. Currently he held the position of director of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for the European Union.
