Until 31 March, the Teatro La Latina in Madrid (Plaza de La Cebada, 2) is hosting 50 sombras. El musical, a hilarious parody inspired by the erotic literary phenomenon 50 Shades of Grey.
Songs and crazy and exciting situations come together in the story of three housewives who take part in a book club until one day one of them, with an open mind, suggests reading 50 Shades of Grey, an experience that will stimulate the fantasies of all three of them.
Through the reading of this novel, the trio becomes involved in the passions of the novel’s two protagonists: Anastasia Steele, a young and naive university literature student who falls under the influence of the sensual, eccentric and vicious tycoon Christian Grey, a lover of unconventional sexual experimentation.
The involvement and identification of the three readers with the book’s protagonists will open them up to transformations and changes in their private lives, but also in their way of thinking and in their desire to escape from the routine of their relationship, to make room for new passionate experiences, as well as provoking a new dialogue with their deepest sexual side.
All this takes place in a funny and sarcastic way, with a wacky interpretation, far from the collective imaginary of the book, with ironic references and a language often detached from reality, typical of musical comedy. Through it, spectators will be able to relive sensations and thoughts that will awaken in them the universe of explorations, erotic fantasies, sex and taboos that the play unfolds during its ninety minutes.
