At the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, which will be held until 28 January at IFEMA Madrid, the Dominican Republic is showcasing the growth experienced by the national tourism industry, having surpassed the record figure of 10 million visitors in December 2023.

The Dominican ambassador, Juan Bolívar Díaz, highlighted in a statement the importance that FITUR 2024 represents for the Dominican Republic as “a space to promote tourism, as it is a unique forum at international level to promote brands, strengthen commercial relations and present new products, among others”.

Juan Bolívar Díaz highlighted that the destinations that will be presented this year include: Miches (in the photo), Punta Bergantín and Pedernales, which have been developed to become tourism benchmarks. He also said that “the Dominican delegation that will participate in FITUR will have a week full of activities, in which Dominican culture will be promoted.

The Dominican diplomat said that “the recovery of Dominican tourism was due to the strategy put in place by President Luis Abinader and Minister David Collado through the Tourism Cabinet and the National Vaccination Plan after COVID-19. He also recalled the recognition that the World Tourism Organization made to the management of tourism in the Dominican Republic that “showed the world how to resume tourism safely” after the pandemic, as reported by the Secretary General of the entity, Zurab Pololikashvili, during the presentation of its work programme in 2023. The Dominican Republic will be present at the Tourism Fair in Pavilion 3, Stand 3C01.
