The Embassy of Morocco, the Real Fábrica de Tapices and Atelier Talasin will open the exhibition Paisajes Tejidos de Kavita Pamar (Woven Landscapes by Kavita Pamar) tomorrow Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the headquarters of the Real Fábrica de Tapices (Calle Fuenterrabía, 2).
The exhibition consists of a collection of hand-woven rugs made by Atelier Talasin, located in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains. It is a local cooperative of Amazigh women, dedicated to the manufacture of authentic handmade Moroccan rugs. Its aim is to create a self-sufficient community that provides decent work for these women, recovering a forgotten heritage by incorporating ancient Berber knot weaving techniques, natural dyeing and designs that respect local culture.
The opening ceremony will be attended by the Ambassador of Morocco, Karima Benyaich; the general director of the Real Fábrica de Tapices, Alejandro Klecker, and the designer Kavita Pamar, promoter of this exhibition. During the event, attendees will be offered a recital of Moroccan music, played on the oud, a typical Moroccan instrument, similar to the Spanish guitar. There will also be a demonstration of the process of weaving an authentic Berber knotted rug, by a weaver from Atelier Atalasin.
