The Diplomat
For a few days now, diplomat Guillermo Anguera has been the new deputy director general of South and East Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position in which he replaces Carmen Cano, recently appointed ambassador of Spain in Vietnam.
Guillermo Anguera will deal with issues that affect Spain’s foreign relations with important countries such as China, Japan, India and South Korea, among others.
A member of the Diplomatic Service since 1997, Anguera was until now a technical advisor in the General Subdirectorate of International Cooperation against Terrorism, Drugs and Organized Crime and previously, for five years, Mertens advisor in the Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU.
Throughout his career, he has also been Deputy Director General for Common Foreign and Security Policy and Deputy Deputy Director General for North Africa. Likewise, he has been posted at the Permanent Representation of Spain to the UN and at the Embassies in Mauritania and Cameroon.
