Next Wednesday 17 January at 19.30, NK Prodarte presents the Strauss Festival Orchestra at the Symphonic Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, with a concert featuring Rachmaninov (pictured) and Dvořák.
Rachmaninov’s famous and quintessentially romantic Piano Concerto No. 2 is chosen to kick off this event. Its immortal melodies and harmonic exquisiteness, together with the sumptuous mastery of orchestration and piano writing, have made it one of the great landmarks in the history of music.
This will be followed by a performance of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, the so-called New World Symphony. Inspired by the spiritual songs of black Americans and American folk music, as well as the rhythms of Native Americans, Dvořák composed this symphony, which was later nicknamed the ‘New World Symphony’ for this reason. Tickets for the concert can be purchased here.
