The Ambassador of Italy, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, yesterday presented maestro Nicola Luisotti with the insignia of Commendatore of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
Maestro Nicola Luisotti (Viareggio, 1961) is one of the most committed and acclaimed conductors abroad, having already conducted all the most prestigious orchestras and always enjoying great success with critics and audiences. Much loved by orchestras all over the world for his creativity and versatility, he has conducted mainly Italian operas, in particular from the repertoire of Verdi and Puccini.
Since his appointment in 2017 as principal guest conductor of the prestigious Teatro Real in Madrid, maestro Luisotti, resident in Spain, has promoted the strengthening of musical ties between Italy and Spain with extraordinary results, helping to spread Italian musical culture at the highest level.
