Until 7 January, the Teatro Bellas Artes in Madrid (Calle del Marqués de Casa Riera, 2) is staging the premiere of the play La ilusión conyugal, starring Alejo Sauras, Ángela Cremonte and Álex Barahona.
The play, written by Eric Assouss and directed by Antonio Hortelano, has been on tour in major Spanish venues before coming to the capital.
One afternoon, María (Ángela Cremonte) is waiting for her husband, Maxi (Alejo Sauras), at home. When he arrives, María proposes a game. To find out where their relationship stands after so many years of monotony. The game consists of finding out how many lovers they have had during their marriage. From here, the miseries, lies and infidelities they have been subjected to during their relationship will come to light, until they manage to take off their masks and show each other, once and for all, as they really are.
La ilusión conyugal is a play about relationships, friendships and lies. A text with a direct dialogue, full of surprises and revelations, with a unique sense of humour to tell truths about the human condition and how appearances can be deceiving. In a single space (the living room of the house), the characters and the action tell a convoluted story through the use of theatrical comedy. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
