On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and as part of the Film of the Month, Casa Árabe will be screening the documentary Gaza, directed in 2019 by Garry Keane and Andrew McConnell, this evening at 7:00 pm.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Raquel Martí, executive director of UNRWA in Spain, and David Perejil, international relations analyst and regional coordinator for Mashreq for the NGO Novact, presented by Olivia Orozco, Casa Árabe’s Training and Economics coordinator. The documentary will be screened in its original version with Spanish subtitles (VOSE). The colloquium will be held in Spanish.
The documentary is a beautiful portrait of Gaza’s citizens in their daily lives, who live their lives beyond the rubble of the eternal conflict. Gaza brings together a group of eloquent, resilient and courageous souls whose struggle, adaptability and family orientation go straight to the heart. A people whose lives are shaped by conflict, but not defined by it. Far from being a place of misery, it is a land of smiles, joy and even brief moments of hope. The film shows a Gaza as it has never been seen before, and may never be seen again.
