In a ceremony presided over by the ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Juan Bolivar Diaz, Soy Caribe Premium Magazine has launched a special edition that pays tribute to the Dominican community in Spain, highlighting the integration of its members into Spanish society. The stories of 14 Dominicans who have built a solid career in Spain were presented.

The edition also features interviews with Spanish personalities who have relations with the Caribbean country: Juan Luis Cebrián, Pelayo de la Mata, Arturo de las Heras and Alida Juliani Sánchez. Among the Dominicans are: Luis Abreu, Bernarda Jiménez, Julio de Castro, Michel Julian, Katia Núñez, Rafaela Pimetel, Lucy Suazo, Julio César Vargas de la Cruz, Juan Antonio Lorenzo Mercedes, Juan Fernández, María Dolores Araujo, Joel Reyes, Manuel Antonio Sánchez Arias and Neyvi Tolentino.

During the ceremony, the Dominican ambassador stressed the importance of recognising and celebrating the achievements of the Dominican diaspora. He highlighted the significant contribution of the Dominican community abroad, highlighting their resilience and their efforts to keep their roots and traditions alive in their new home. The Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Madrid, Miguel Vázquez, also joined the presentation.

Crismeidy Ureña, director of the magazine, said it is a tribute to the excellence and positive impact Dominicans are having around the world. Ureña said: “These stories are a testimony that Dominicans can achieve great things and serve as an inspiration for future generations”.

The evening also offered an exquisite taste of Dominican culture, with a performance by the Ballet Dominicano en Europa, directed by Spain-based cultural activist Héctor Farias, adding a touch of authenticity and cultural heritage to the celebration. In addition, the event was moderated by Spanish journalist Marta Jaumandreu.
