The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, will appear on December 5 before the plenary session of the Congress, at the request of the PP, to report on the Gaza war.
According to the Efe agency, the calendar approved yesterday by the Bureau of the Congress includes this plenary session, requested by the PP in its work of control of the Government and which will take place a week before the beginning of the ordinary plenary sessions of this legislature. The appearance of Albares will take place almost two months after the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East.
The PP wants the minister to report on the conclusions of the European Council of 26 and 27 October, devoted largely to the situation in the Middle East and in which the 27 expressed their support for the international peace conference proposed by Spain to move towards a two-state solution.
On the other hand, José Manuel Albares yesterday promised his post during the swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers of Pedro Sánchez’s coalition government, which took place at the Zarzuela Palace and was presided over by King Felipe VI. “I begin a new stage as Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation in which we will continue to strengthen Spain’s foreign policy for the benefit of all citizens,” Albares declared on his official account on the social network X after promising his post.
