This evening at 8.30 pm, the Instituto Italiano de Cultura of Madrid presents a special event of the cycle In Scena A Palazzo, dedicated to the greatest of Italian poets, Dante Alighieri, interpreted by Maestro Franco Ricordi (in the photo).
Dante’s Commedia is perhaps the greatest text that exists in the West in a poetic, philosophical and theatrical sense. This work, even before being written, is above all an oral text, so it is absolutely necessary to listen to it, which will lead those attending the event to the true meaning of the great Dantean Cantos.
The presentation in Madrid of the “lección-especáculo” on Dante is very significant: both for the references to great Spanish authors – think not only of Pedro Calderón de la Barca, in reference to the “Christian faith” which is expressed above all in Canto XXIV of Paradise – and also for the great study by Miguel Asín Palacios on “Dante and Islam”, regarding the affinities between the neo-Platonic construction of Paradise and Islamic culture. A great evening of theatre and literature.
Franco Ricordi is an Italian philosopher, actor, director, artistic director and essayist. In December 2010, he was appointed Director of the Teatro di Roma. In 2015, he initiated a major project on Dante, on a philosophical-essayistic but also theatrical and communicative level, which will continue until 2021, the 7th centenary of the death of the Poet. Based on his readings in Dante’s places, 2023 sees the premiere of DANTE- La Commedia Divina, the first film illustrating the 3 Canticles of the Commedia, produced by Magnitudo and directed by Roberta Borgonovo.
