Franz Liszt was the first great piano virtuoso to showcase his talent and skills on long-awaited tours that caused a furore all over Europe. The musician became a true wandering star who revolutionised the world of music, a visionary who changed the way concerts were organised. The “Lisztomania” came to an end in 1848, after nine years of incessant concert tours. Liszt, at the age of 36, tired and exhausted by success and fame, retired to Weimar to devote himself to composition. It was then that he composed his famous Symphonic Poems.
