On Tuesday 7 November at 7.15 p.m., Oliver Costa (pictured), political scientist and Director of Research at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) at CEVIPOF – Sciences Po (Paris) will give a lecture at the Círculo de Bellas Artes entitled Is the European Union democratic? Analysis and some proposals.
This event will take place within the framework of the R+D+C Forum “Democratic quality. Retos de la democracia en eñ siglo XXI”, organised by the Círculo de Bellas Artes and the Coordination Office for the Spanish Presidency of the EU, the Instituto Francés and the French Embassy.
This forum will provide an opportunity to reflect on the main challenges facing democracy today, as well as the importance of strengthening institutions in order to maintain democratic values and prevent a decline in confidence in or satisfaction with democracy.
The independence of the media, cybersecurity in electoral processes, open dialogue with citizens and new models of democratic participation in the artistic and cultural field will be some of the topics to be addressed during the different sessions. Free event with prior reservation at this link.
