Casa Árabe is holding the first edition of the ‘Amistad’ Prize until 9 November, to recognise the work of individuals or organisations that have promoted the dissemination of the Arabic language.
The purpose of this award is to recognise the work of individuals and organisations, whether public or private, national or international, who have made an outstanding contribution to spreading the Arabic language, innovating in it, disseminating it or extending it to other activities which enhance its uniqueness, its heritage in the Spanish language and its vitality today.
Arabic is a language that is increasingly present on the scientific, cultural and economic scene. Spain is a good example of this, with a great linguistic influence of Arabic on Spanish and a growing community of Arabic speakers.
In addition to the prestigious award, the winner will receive a sculpture by the distinguished artist Rachid Koraïchi, which will be presented at a special ceremony organised by Casa Árabe. In addition, funding will be provided for the award winner’s invitation to attend the ceremony, which may be held at either of Casa Árabe’s two headquarters.
The deadline for submitting candidatures will be open until 9 November, and the jury will be made up of the Director General of Casa Árabe, as president, and five experts related to the fields of culture, language, education, economics, international relations and communication. The rules can be consulted on Casa Árabe’s website. Application form.
