On the occasion of the 19th Day of the Contemporary, the Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid presents tomorrow Thursday at 12 noon the exhibition Mi prendo cura di me, organised in collaboration with the Italian cultural association Recontemporary.
The common thread of the Jornada de lo Contemporaneo 2023 is always the theme of ecology, related to that of sustainability: global urgencies that confront us with the need to rethink the contemporary art system through a renewed awareness and a more diffuse sensibility.
Through five videos by Italian artists -Mara Palena, Megan Stancanelli, Lorenzo Peluffo and Fortuna De Nardo, in collaboration with Enrico Turletti and Eugenio Nicolella, Rä di Martino and Francesca Lolli – and a sculpture by Aurora Paolillo, the exhibition leads visitors to explore and rethink the relationship between one’s own body and the environment: “taking care of ourselves is the first step in taking care of the world around us, marking an inseparable relationship between human beings and nature”. The Day of the Contemporary is the event promoted in Italy and abroad to “tell” to a wide public the great vitality of Italian contemporary art and the richness of the different contemporary languages.
