The Instituto de Cuestiones Internacionales y Política Exterior (INCIPE) is holding the 18th Armed Forces and Media Seminar, entitled The war in Ukraine: impact and geostrategic consequences, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, tomorrow, 3 October, from 10 a.m. onwards.
The event will be opened by Manuel Alabart, Spanish Ambassador and Secretary General of INCIPE, and Yolanda Rodríguez Vidales, Director of Institutional Communication of Defence, Ministry of Defence. The first round table, entitled Information and disinformation in the war in Ukraine, will take place at 10.15, moderated by Vicente Garrido, Director General of INCIPE, with CN Ignacio Nieto Fernández, Head of the Strategic Conduct Section, Joint Defence Staff (EMACON); María Senovilla, freelance journalist and photographer, and Oscar Mijallo, international information journalist, TVE.
After a half-hour break, at 12:15 p.m., the second round table will be held, entitled Geostrategic consequences of the conflict, moderated by Eloísa Moreiro González, diplomat. Analyst in the Geopolitics Area of the Security and Defence Coordination and Studies Division, Ministry of Defence, with the participation of María Álvarez de Eulate, journalist. José Pardo de Santayana, Research Coordinator and Senior Analyst at the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies (IEEE), Ministry of Defence, and Col. José Luis Calvo, Director of the Security and Defence Coordination and Studies Division, Ministry of Defence. The event will be brought to a close with a conference at 13.45 by Admiral (r) Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez, Secretary General for Defence Policy (SEGENPOL), Ministry of Defence.
The seminar will be held in hybrid format, so it will be possible to attend in person at the INCIPE headquarters (Adequa complex, Avenida de Burgos 89, Madrid), subject to confirmation by email aranzazu.alvarez@incipe.org, until full capacity is reached. Those who cannot attend in person will be able to follow the session live on the Institute’s YouTube channel.
