Iberdrola has set up a special plan to guarantee electricity supply to those affected by Hurricane Lee through Avangrid, its subsidiary in the United States, and its subsidiaries in Maine, Connecticut and New York.
The company’s Health and Safety teams have deployed resources in Maine and conducted safety briefings for operational teams in anticipation of restoration activities, the utility said, according to Europa Press.
Technology teams (IT and operations) have been working to increase the resilience of systems and have completed four of the five requested reinforcements in communications.
The general services teams have also been active in preparing Avangrid’s facilities, generators and the entire Avangrid fleet to support restoration activities.
“Emergency response is one of the most important ways we support our customers and communities,” said Avangrid CEO Pedro Azagra.
“With operations in multiple states, our Emergency Management department facilitates collaboration between our various teams. Having a multi-state network of resources is a great advantage for us during storm response because it offers flexibility so we can adjust quickly to the situation,” he explained.
He also indicated that teams will be ready to move to New York, Maine or Connecticut to support response efforts.
Each Avangrid subsidiary has unique Emergency Response Plans that detail the priorities and actions the company will take to deal with critical situations in its service areas.
