The Diplomat
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has put out to competition among diplomats several posts abroad, among which is that of Consul General in Moscow, according to a resolution of the Undersecretary of the department published last Friday in the Official State Gazette.
The Consulate General in the Russian capital has been headed by María Isabel Vicandi since September 2020, who will reach retirement age in February next year, and who will remain in the post until then. The Ministry has wanted to call for the post in good time to avoid a vacuum in such a sensitive post at this time, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also advertised for the post of cultural counsellor in Germany, currently held by Juan Manuel Villaplana, as well as the post of consul general in Bolivia, the second head at the embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the post of secretary at Spain’s Permanent Representation to the UN in New York.
