In the context of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of its declaration as World Heritage by Unesco, the University of Alcalá is hosting this year the third edition of La Iberoamericana, an exhibition dedicated to women artists that seeks the equality of women in art and which will take place from 22 September to 26 November, under the curatorship of Manuel Víctor del Campo.
As part of this exhibition, two days of debate and exchange of knowledge will be held under the title En el Ecuador de la igualdad, which will take place tomorrow at 11 a.m. and on 21 September, at the Casa de América and the Antiguo Hospital de Santa María la Rica in Alcalá de Henares, respectively.
Ecuador, whose capital, Quito, was the first city in the world to be declared a World Heritage Site (1978), is, with 18 participating artists, the guest country of this edition, which is an excellent opportunity to meet Ecuadorian professionals in the plastic and visual arts.
The Casa de América dialogue will be divided into two thematic areas: Panel 1, Equal and Unequal in Art. The Ibero-American experience in the 21st century; and panel 2, Women, the visual arts and cultural management in Ecuador today.
Ecuadorian artists Paula Barragán, Paulina Guarderas and Pollet Zapata will participate, and Sabrina Guerra Moscoso, historian and cultural attaché at the Ecuadorian Embassy, and Fanny Eugenia Moscoso, president of Estamperia Quiteña and artist, will moderate.
