The Council of Ministers yesterday authorised a voluntary contribution of 1,150,000 euros to the Ibermedia Programme (Audiovisual Development Programme in Support of the Construction of the Ibero-American Visual Space) to support the co-production of digital content and video games, reports Efe.
The Ibermedia Programme is a multilateral financial fund for the promotion of cinematographic activity made up of Spain, Portugal, Italy and 21 Ibero-American countries.
This amount completes the investment of 3.3 million euros in the Ibermedia Programme planned and committed by Spain since 2021.
This contribution means that the Ibermedia Programme, which includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela, will launch a specific line of aid for the application of new technologies.
Technologies applied to digital animation and audiovisual content developed in virtual reality (VR), extended reality (XR) and/or augmented reality (AR) environments.
The investment has been processed by the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, with funding from the Spain AVS Hub component of the Spanish Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the distribution of European Next Generation funds.
The aim of this financial support is to strengthen Spain’s strategic role through the Ibermedia Programme.
