The XXXVII Open Castilla y León Villa de El Espinar and the VII ITF Women’s Tennis Tournament will take place at the Complejo Deportivo Municipal Pedro Muñoz, in the Estación de El Espinar, until the 30th of July.
This year’s edition brings together a bunch of great players. In the women’s draw, the presence of Jessica Ponchet stands out. The French player was champion of the tournament in 2018. Also announced is Eva Guerrero, finalist of the 2022 edition and Spanish players such as Guiomar Maristany. The men’s draw will feature, as last year, the presence of Fernando Verdasco, champion of the tournament in 2007, as well as young talents from the Spanish Armada such as Pablo Llamas and Alejandro Moro.
The number one in the draw will be the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, current number 54 in the world and who has been the protagonist of a great third round duel against Danil Medveded at Wimbledon.
This year, the Tournament wants to highlight the Tennis World Heritage slogan, a slogan that links sport in general and tennis in particular with the extraordinary cultural and historical heritage that the province of Segovia treasures.
For this reason, the opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by the mayors and members of the municipal corporation of Segovia, Sepúlveda, Real Sitio de San Idelfonso, Riaza, Ayllón, Maderuelo, Coca, Cuellar, Sotosalbos, Turégano, Pedraza and El Espinar, the host municipality which was represented by its mayor, Javier Figueredo.
