The novel Los ecos de un ruido, published by Atlantis and authored by the diplomat Jorge Romeu, will be presented this evening at 19.30 at the Casa Cultural de Castilla-La Mancha (Calle de la Paz, 4, Madrid).
Romeu sets his work in Madrid just before the bursting of the real estate bubble, when a successful but humanly unhappy businessman receives an unexpected call to travel to Haiti to join his older brother, who has been missing for years.
Jorge Romeu, who has been posted as a diplomat in Oran (Algeria), Havana, Washington, New York and Beijing, pours into this work his knowledge and experience of the area in which the events unfold, as he was, for some years, responsible for Central America and the Caribbean in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Los ecos del ruido is his first novel, although he is the author of two essays on the United States (La Corte y los soberanos and La fe del Alquimista).
