On 26 June at 6.30 p.m., the Real Fábrica de Tapices will hold its First Seminar on the Conservation and Restoration of the Textile Heritage of Brotherhoods and Guilds, at its headquarters at Calle Fuenterrabía, 2.
The presentation will be given by the director of the Real Fábrica de Tapices, Alejandro Klecker, who will explain the origin, evolution and main figures that have shaped the History of the Real Fábrica de Tapices (RTF).
Next, the director of Restoration at the RFT, Verónica García, will address the process of conservation and restoration of historic textiles. In addition to providing some advice on the preventive conservation of textiles, she will explain specific examples of interventions carried out at the Real Fábrica, such as the Brotherhood of Nuestra Señora de los Santos de Móstoles, the Brotherhood of the Virgen de la Paloma or the Cruz de Caravaca Brotherhood.
Finally, Almudena López, a specialist in Dyeing at the Institution, will highlight the importance of dyeing and colour evaluation in textile restoration processes. She will also reveal the keys to the dyeing process at the Real Fábrica de Tapices, where sustainability, reversibility and respect for the original piece are fundamental issues
