Casa Árabe is continuing with the activities it has programmed to coincide with LGTBI+ Pride Day, and as part of the Film of the Month, this evening at 7:00 pm it will be screening the film The Blue Caftan (Le bleu du caftan), directed by Maryam Touzani in 2022. The film stars Lubna Azabal, Ayoub Messioui and Saleh Bakri.
Halim has been married for a long time to Mina, with whom he runs a traditional kaftan shop in the medina of Salé, one of the oldest in Morocco. The couple have always lived with a secret that Halim has learned to hide. But Mina’s illness and the arrival in the shop of a young apprentice threaten to upset this balance.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Laila Hotait and actor Ibrahim Ibnou Goush. The debate will be presented by Karim Hauser, Casa Árabe’s Culture and International Relations Coordinator.
Advance sale on Casa Árabe’s website until 12 noon today. Tickets not sold online will be on sale at the cultural centre’s headquarters one hour before each screening. Tickets are numbered. Screening in original version with Spanish subtitles (VOSE).
