Global Power Generation (GPG), Naturgy’s international generation subsidiary, announced the commissioning of its third wind farm in Australia, called BerryBank 2, the company said.

The facility, located some 150 kilometres from Melbourne, in the Corangamite region (State of Victoria) and whose investment has amounted to 236 million Australian dollars (around 144 million euros), has an installed capacity of 109 MW and will produce 390 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean energy per year, equivalent to supplying more than 71,000 homes.

The project has involved an investment of 144 million euros. Berrybank 2 was awarded a power purchase agreement by the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) government in September 2020.
.

The entry into operation of Berrybank 2 coincides with the celebration of Naturgy’s 15th anniversary in Australia, a priority country for the group due to its enormous potential in terms of energy transition. Naturgy aims to reach an installed capacity in the country of 2.2 GW by 2025 focused on the development of wind, solar photovoltaic and storage technology plants.

“Naturgy’s presence has always aimed to build a strong renewable portfolio that provides clean energy sources and contributes to the development of rural and regional communities. We celebrate this fifteenth anniversary with our eyes set on the future and with a solid commitment to this country, the second by volume of growth in Naturgy’s current strategic plan, only behind Spain,” said Francisco Bustío, CEO of GPG.
