The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, and the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, participated yesterday in Madrid in a tribute to the Spaniards who were deported and died in Mauthausen and other Nazi concentration camps.
“It is a civic responsibility to remember their example and commit ourselves to transfer to new generations all the democratic values they taught us,” said Bolaños during the event, which was held at the monolith of Nuevos Ministerios, in Madrid, on the occasion of the Day of Tribute to the Spanish deported and deceased in Mauthausen and other camps and to all the victims of Nazism in Spain.
“Unlike last year, now the Law of Democratic Memory remembers them and refers to the Holocaust as the starting point of all memory policies worldwide,” he added. The tribute was also attended by Fernando Martínez, Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, and Concha Díaz, vice-president of the association Amical de Mauthausen.
