This evening at 7 p.m., the Instituto Francés of Madrid presents the book A través del bosque (Through the Forest), the latest novel by acclaimed author Laura Alcoba, an event which will be attended by her.
One cold morning in December 1984, Griselda, an Argentinian exile in France, wakes up with a severe headache. After unsuccessfully asking Claudio, her husband, for help, she returns home, fills the bathtub and drowns her two youngest children in it. The eldest, Flavia, barely six years old, is saved because she is at school. Thirty years later, Laura Alcoba interviews the survivors of this tragedy and, without clearing up the mystery of Griselda’s act, tries to approach the inconceivable. Asked about her mother, Flavia, now a successful photographer, describes her as “present, loving. Very loving”.
