The headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid is hosting from today until Friday the VIII International Conference ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), the largest conference on language testing in Europe.
The Secretary General of the Instituto Cervantes, Carmen Noguero Galilea, and the Secretary General of ALTE, Nick Saville, will open the conference today, which is co-organized by the Instituto Cervantes. The event will conclude on Friday with the meeting of the LAMI Forum (Language Assessment for Migration and Inclusion), an initiative set up in Salamanca in 2002 with the aim of promoting the fairness of certification tests in the context of migration.
The LAMI group collaborates with the Council of Europe in the elaboration of studies analyzing the growing importance of language testing in migration policy. Both the closing of the ALTE Conference and the LAMI Forum will be attended by the Deputy Director of Migration Analysis of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Amparo Gonzalez Ferrer.
After suffering the cancellation of its edition planned for 2020, the ALTE International Conference will bring together 350 international specialists from different fields of language assessment, and will program more than one hundred presentations. This year, the Latin American and East Asian evaluators’ associations will also be invited to participate.
