The writer Tarek Eltayeb presents his new autobiographical publication Estaciones on the 29th of March at 7 p.m. in an event organised by Casa Árabe and the Foro Cultural de Austria. Admission is free until full capacity is reached in the Casa Árabe auditorium. Presentation in Spanish and Arabic, with simultaneous interpretation.
Born in Cairo of Sudanese parents, Tarek Eltayeb has lived in Vienna since 1984, where he began his career as a writer. Stations brings together the notes that the author took during the first fifty years of his life. The collected fragments trace a personal and family journey that stretches from the Nile to the Danube. Tarek Eltayeb sees himself as a representative of a new intercultural Europe. The author’s journey is an individual one, unique and atypical, like that of the millions of human beings who move around the planet in search of a home and a destiny. Tarek Eltayeb is today – among many other things – an Austrian writer who writes in Arabic, a representative of a new Europe.
The author will be accompanied at the presentation by Carla Fibla, a reporter for the magazine Mundo Negro, and Muhsin al-Ramli, Iraqi writer and author of Los jardines del presidente (The President’s Gardens), among other titles. The event will be presented by Karim Hauser, Coordinator of Culture and International Relations at Casa Árabe.
