Author: Yukio Mishima.
At Kyoko’s house, guests are welcome at any time. Four young people of different professions and characters meet there, with one thing in common: a stoic conscience that forces them to deny themselves, to pretend that they do not believe in the existence of suffering in this world, accustomed to hiding their feelings, that mirror broken into small shards of glass inside them. In that house, marriages, social classes, prejudices and order are not taken seriously, nor are there any forbidden topics of conversation. Just the thought that there is such a place in the world cheers up these four young people, for whom it is a refuge and a beacon.
Yukio Mishima (1925-1970) is one of the most important Japanese writers of the 20th century. La casa de Kyoko (Kyoko’s House), a novel published in 1959, had not been translated into Spanish until now. It tells the interconnected stories of four men who represent the different facets of the author’s personality: the artistic in the painter, the athletic in the boxer, the nihilistic in the businessman and the narcissistic in the actor.
