The Instituto Francés in Madrid is once again partnering the Festival Ellas Crean, organised by the Instituto de las Mujeres-Ministerio de Igualdad, and will be screening two films directed by women, Vacaciones contigo y con tu mujer (Antoinette dans les Cévennes), by Caroline Vignal, and Un amor de verano (La belle saison), by Catherine Corsini, today and tomorrow at 8 pm. The screenings will be in French with Spanish subtitles.
Antoinette dans les Cévennes stars Laure Calamy, winner of the César Award for Best Actress for her role in this film. It tells the story of how Antoinette, a schoolteacher, looks forward to her planned long summer holiday with her secret lover Vladimir, the father of one of her pupils. When she learns that Vladimir cannot come because his wife has organised a surprise trekking holiday with their daughter and a donkey to carry her load, Antoinette decides to follow his trail, alone, with Patrick, a protective donkey. La belle saison stars Izïa Higelin and Cécile de France, nominated for the César Award for Best Actress for her role in this film. In 1971, Delphine, the daughter of a peasant farmer, is 23 years old and sets off for Paris to become financially independent. Carole is a 35-year-old Parisian with Manuel as a companion, while actively living the beginnings of feminism. When Delphine and Carole meet, their love story will completely transform their lives.
