The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, yesterday held an extensive agenda of contacts during his participation in the Munich Security Conference.
As Albares himself announced on his Twitter account, he met with the German Minister for Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, with whom, he said, he agreed “on the need to continue helping the people of Ukraine and cooperating in the Sahel, without forgetting other difficult contexts or the emergency in Turkey and Syria after the earthquake”.
He also held his first meeting with the new foreign minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Dino Konaković. With him, he discussed bilateral relations and relations with the European Union. “I reiterated Spain’s support for the country’s European path,” said Albares.
The minister also had the opportunity to meet with his counterpart from the Dominican Republic, Roberto Álvarez, to discuss the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit to be held next month in Santo Domingo, and to discuss bilateral relations and the situation in the Caribbean.
As part of these contacts, Albares met with Staffan de Mistura, the UN Secretary General’s personal envoy for Western Sahara. “I have once again reiterated to him that he has the full support of the Spanish government in his work”, the minister said.
