From 12 to 19 January, the Teatro del Barrio in Madrid (Calle Zurita, 20) presents the play El hombre y el lienzo (Man and Canvas), with text and direction by Alberto Iglesias.
In each performance, an artist (Javier Ruiz de Alegría) faces a text and a canvas, without fears (or facing them), bare-chested, in front of the audience. Each night he will give life to a work, a self-portrait born of his doubts and, above all, of his absences. It is an art of the stage and of the plastic arts.
El hombre y el lienzo is a unique montage that allows the spectator to be part of the creation of two works: the dramaturgical and the plastic. The final canvas, the one that has taken shape before the audience’s eyes (and some canvases that came to life on other days of the performance) can be purchased by any spectator who wants to take the particular show they have just enjoyed to another “corner” of their life. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
