The project ‘Paisaje Solar’ (Solar Landscape) by artist Rocío Asensi and re-create Studio will represent the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, from July 1 to December 31, 2023, with three installations. Two in the European Council – in the atrium and in the lobby of the Justus Lipsius building – and another one in the forum of the European Council’s Europa Building.
The three artistic interventions combine the human and global scale, with the aim of conveying a sense of peace and a final message: the union of all citizens under the same sun, a central part of the work.
The jury, whose members included Daniel Canogar, Estrella de Diego, Emilio Tuñón, Bea Espejo, Elvira Dyongani and Mabel Tapia, considered that the joint proposal by Rocío Asensi and re-create Studio is a “sober and direct installation”, which stands out for its “extraordinary evocative capacity”.
The project was the winner, against 28 other proposals, of the competition launched by the Coordination Office for the Spanish Presidency of the EU, Acción Cultural Española and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.
The jury also recognized the quality of the works presented, selecting as finalists the proposals by Beatriz Ruibal, Basurama, Clara Montoya and Rafa Munárri.
